Holy Week

Maundy Thursday

April 18 at 6:00 p.m. All are invited to come to the fellowship hall of Two Rivers Church for a pot luck dinner. This year we will be joined by our brothers and sisters from the Church of Peace. The pot luck is not just a meal, however. Over the course of the evening we will share readings from the Gospel of Luke. We will remember the instructions Jesus left with us. We will share the Bread and the Cup in a style that is truly unique. We will sing songs of praise. And we will end the night remembering the denial and betrayal of Jesus’ closest friends.

Good Friday

April 19 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. This is an open house invitation for peopel to come any time between 3-6 p.m. Once you step into the church, you will find a guide booklet and several Stations of the Gospel. These devotions will include readings about the life, ministry, arrest, torture, and death of Jesus. Instead of the Stations of the Cross, the Stations of the Gospel give you a chance to relive Jesus’ whole ministry. Each station will have a reading, a reflection, and some sort of interactive prayer. The Stations take about 30 minutes to go through, and end at the foot of the Cross.

Easter Sunday

April 21 is Easter Sunday, and the morning is full of chances to worship and enjoy the most important day of the Christian year.

7:00 a.m. Service of the Empty Tomb. This takes place in the back of the sanctuary. The lights will still be dim, and the joy of Easter is delayed just a little. Very early in the morning on the first day the women found an empty tomb. They were fearful and they were anxious. We will begin our morning with that mystery and wonder, knowing that something in the world is very different.

8:00 a.m. Free Pancake and Sausage breakfast. The United Methodist Men will provide a free breakfast from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Enjoy a time of friendship and food as we prepare to celebrate the resurrection.

8:30 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt. The kids will have various games and activities all morning. After breakfast, they will go up to the sanctuary to search for Easter eggs and collect sweet treats.

9:30 a.m. Easter Worship. We will celebrate the Resurection of Christ with singing, preaching, Communion, and a full worship experience (that will end our Celtic Lent series)
