Kids and Youth

SUNDAY SCHOOL (10:30-11:45 every Sunday between Labor Day and Memorial Day) Every Sunday the kids and youth meet in Epworth hall for a special time of fellowship.  The youth in 6th grade and up meet with Pastor Robb to go over in more detail the scripture of the day.  The kids in grades K-5th meet with other Sunday school volunteers for an age appropriate Sunday school lesson.

Two Rivers Kids Club and Youth Group  meet from 3:00-5:00 pm every Sunday at either Two Rivers in Rock Island or Trinity Lutheran in Moline Starting August 21 – until further notice. The Two Rivers Kids and Youth will continue their weekly meetings at a new time and places. We will continue our relationship with Trinity Lutheran Church (Moline). Starting on August 21, we will meet every Sunday from 3:00-5:00 at Two Rivers and at Trinity Lutheran.  On the first two Sundays of the month, we will meet at Two Rivers Church. We will start to use the youth rooms again and the fun stuff we have on the fourth floor of the education wing (shuffleboard, pickleball, ping pong, etc).  On the third and fourth Sundays of the month, we will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1330 13th Street in Moline.  Each two-week cycle at the churches will also be a pattern. The first week at a location (the first and third Sundays of the month) will focus on faith formation for grades 4th -12th. Director of Family Ministries Deb Kunakey and Pastor Robb will continue to guide the groups and will be using The Bible Project series of short animations to help teach about the Gospels.  The second week at each location (the second and fourth Sundays) will be events geared more toward whole families. Younger kids and parents will be invited to participate in theme afternoons like “Lego Day” or “Chess Day.”   On the fifth Sundays, we will plan some sort of fun event that is outside of either church like bowling, a trip to an arcade, or a movie.

TRY Late Night – Every so often, the Two Rivers Youth gather at church for fun, games, and discussion.  These events usually last from 7:00-11:00 p.m.  This time frame gives the youth a chance to play lock-in games like hide-and-seek, but with the added benefit of being able to sleep in their own beds.

TRY Retreats – TRY Retreats are usually at Camp Milan Retreat Center. Just a 15 minute drive from the church, Camp Milan is a perfect place for a short getaway. With two wings of bunks, a large dining hall, full commercial kitchen, recreation room, and 9 acres of green space and woods, Camp Milan is perfect for a weekend away without a long drive. TRY Retreats are usually about 24 hours, from Friday evening until Saturday. The next TRY Retreat will be in the Fall of 2017. Dates TBA.
