Palm Sunday worship service is at 9:30 a.m. on March 25. The service will include a presentation by our children and youth choir and the waving of palm branches. The final sermon in the Deeper series will examine Praise and Platitudes. What is authentic worship, and when are we just going through the motions? The service will begin with the praise of the joyful entry, but close in the shadow of the cross.
On March 29 at 6:00 p.m., all are invited to gather in Epworth Hall for a special meal. On the night we remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples, we will gather for a special evening of fellowship, praise, reflection, and Communion. Instead of traditional worship in the sanctuary, the service will be a pot-luck dinner and Communion in Epworth Hall. All are invited to bring a dish to share. Before the meal is served, there will be special readings, and the ritual of Communion will take place in the midst of the dinner. This is a truly unique experience of hands-on, participatory worship.
The church will be open from noon until 6 p.m. for individuals to participate in various spiritual practices. From noon until 3 p.m there will be a prayer vigil. Participants can sign up ahead of time to pray for half an hour. There will be various prayers and guides for those that participate. From 12:00-6:00 p.m., the Stations of the Gospel will be set up around the church. This is a self-guided tour through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Participants are given a booklet at the beginning of the journey, and then can move through the church at their own pace participating in the Scripture readings and reflections.
We will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus with a full morning of worship, fellowship, and praise.
