Kids and Youth

2023 SUMMER OF FUN

This summer a series of fun activities will be offered for kids and youth. The activities will shift to Thursday afternoons, mostly from 1:00-3:00 p.m. RSVP in this online form. Please RSVP at least one week in advance so we can plan rides and prepare for costs. We are asking youth to bring $5 per event. Kids under 10 are invited, but must be accompanied by an extra parent/adult. All of these events are leading into Confirmation, which will begin in the fall.

July 27, 6:00-8:00 All Church Picnic at Camp Milan (with Confirmation Retreat for youth to follow until 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28)

CONFIRMATION (10:30-11:45 starting August 13

Confirmation is a period of learning and discernment for youth in grades 6 and up. The classes will start after worship on August 13. Led by Pastor Robb, the young people will learn the basics of our faith, and be guided in important discussions and conversations. Questions, doubts, and wondering will be encouraged for young people to make a claim on their own faith journey. In the end, the young people will be asked if they wish to be baptized or to affirm the vows that were taken on their behalf at baptism. There will be a special service to recognize their confirmation on January 7, 2024. There will be a special confirmation retreat on July 27-28 at Camp Milan.

SUNDAY SCHOOL (10:30-11:45 every Sunday between Labor Day and Memorial Day)

Every Sunday the kids and youth meet in Epworth hall for a special time of fellowship.  The youth in 6th grade and up meet with Pastor Robb to go over in more detail the scripture of the day.  The kids in grades K-5th meet with other Sunday school volunteers for an age appropriate Sunday school lesson.

TRY Retreats

TRY Retreats are usually at Camp Milan Retreat Center. Just a 15 minute drive from the church, Camp Milan is a perfect place for a short getaway. With two wings of bunks, a large dining hall, full commercial kitchen, recreation room, and 9 acres of green space and woods, Camp Milan is perfect for a weekend away without a long drive. TRY Retreats are usually about 24 hours, from Friday evening until Saturday. The next TRY Retreat will be July 27-28 at Camp Milan Meeting and Retreat Center.
