A Letter from Pastor Robb to the congregation of Two Rivers Church
March 19, 2020
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus has had an enormous impact on all aspects of our life. Our church life is no exception. We are called by Christ to love one another as ourselves, and sometimes that loves means that we have to make sacrifices for the greater good.
To that end, and to follow the CDC recommendations, we are suspending all public gatherings until April 6. This will include all meetings, youth gatherings, music rehearsals and Lenten concerts. Perhaps most painfully, we will not gather for worship. At a later date, we will reevaluate the safety of gathering on Easter Sunday.
For at least the next three Sundays, we will create an online worship experience that can be experienced live at our regularly scheduled time of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. We will also record this event and post it to channels for viewing at any time afterwards. We are also working on creating recordings on DVD.
To watch the service live, go to our Facebook page at Facebook.com/RITwoRivers. To watch the service after this time, go to our website at TwoRiversUMC.org. There will you find links to our Youtube Channel.
The services will include music, prayer, a time for offering, and a Scripture reading and sermon. Online giving will be encouraged. Checks may still be mailed to the church office if you would like to make contributions.
The Saturday Meal Site will continue its important ministry with some immediate changes. In order to maintain the standards of having only small gatherings, none of the regular meal site minsitry will take place within Epworth Hall. Food prepared in the kitchen by our volunteers will be given to people in to-go boxes outside. Groceries and produce will also be distributed in prepackaged containers outside.
A team of volunteers will also be working to help connect people who are isolated. They will be making phone calls to members who are in need of personal contact and are in particular risk if they leave their homes. If you have any immediate need, please contact the church office.
