Two Rivers Church is hosting Creators’ Camp from June 10-13, with a Creators’ Fair, picnic, and movie night on June 15. The camp will meet Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Kids from Preschool through entering 7th grade are invited to this unique experience. The key to the Two Rivers Creators’ Camp is choice. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
Each day at Creators’ Camp, kids will do two workshops with either a Science, Engineering, Music, Poetry, Arts, or Drama theme. When kids entering grades 1-7 register, they can pick their top three choices to help us divide them into groups based on age and choice. We will do our very best to make sure kids get into their top choice workshop, and the second workshop will be based on availability and balance between the groups. Kids that are entering Preschool or Kindergarten will be kept in their own group and use more of a preschool model of smaller activities with these themes.
Music – Depending on the age group, this could include basic ukulele lessons or building their own instruments.
Engineering – Use the Sphero robots, build bridges, cars, and other challenges.
Gardening – This is pending, but we hope to offer one session of creating your own small garden.
Science – Fun experiments and demonstrations.
Spoken Word Poetry – Learn from a professional spoken-word poet to create beautiful and powerful expressions of emotion and thought.
Arts – Create several art and craft projects using a variety of media.
In addition to the two workshops, there will be a snack time when all the kids come together, and a closing worship experience to help tie all that the kids are doing together. There will also be a mission element, as kids will be encouraged to bring items for the Two Rivers Church Operation Safety Net, which gives personal items out to people in need on the last Saturday of every month.
On Saturday night, June 15, everyone is invited out to Camp Milan for our Creators’ Fair, picnic and movie night. This will be a chance for the kids to show off their work from the week. The music workshop will play the songs they learned on the ukulele. The arts kids will show off their work. The engineering kids will have the balloon cars and creations they made, and there will be demonstrations of the science projects the kids worked on.
There will also be a good, old-fashioned church potluck and cookout. As the sun goes down, we will have a movie night under the stars on the big screen.
