    Coming this fallThere  are a lot of exciting events coming this fall to Two Rivers United Methodist Church. There are many ways to serve our community, reach out in ministry, and enjoy the fellowship of Christian brothers and sisters. More details will come, but we want to make sure you don’t miss any of these great events.

    On Wednesday, May 27 at 6, Pastor Robb is cooking up plate of thanks for Mark Swessinger, Judy Litherland, Tamara Baugh, Constance King, and all of the members of the Sanctuary Choir, Bell Choir, Kids’ Choir, and Happy Hearts Dance. Here are some details:

    Who? All who have appreciated the music in worship over the last year.

    What? Pasta and marinara sauce, meatballs, garlic bread, and salad. All homemade. You will not find jars of sauce in the garbage can, and all meatballs will be handmade. This will be a vegetarian-friendly meal. The meatballs will be cooked separately from the sauce.

    When? Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m.

    Where? Epworth Hall.

    Whh? To appreciate the hard work and talent of so many people that make our worship experience full of beauty and grace.

    Two Rivers Church is planning a three-night Vacation Bible School trip around the world. Exploring how “God’s love is everywhere,” the students at Two Rivers will enjoy games, snacks, stories, and crafts inspired by the people of Mexico, India, and Liberia. Kids from Preschool through 5th grade are invited to be a part of this fun experience.

    God’s Love is Everywhere will last from 6-8 p.m. every night on Monday-Wednesday, June 15-17. There is no fee.

    Fill out this form to register. On the first day, there will still be paperwork to fill out. We will need some signatures of legal guardians for emergency contact information and for release forms to use pictures of kids on our  website and print media.

    Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored DreamcoatOn May 8 and May 9 at 7:00 p.m., The Center For Living Arts will present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the sanctuary of Two Rivers United Methodist Church. Dino Hayz directs a cast of 54 kids from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Tickets for the show will be $10 a piece. Tickets will be on sale on Sundays leading up to the production.

    The production of Joseph is entirely kids from kindergarten through 8th grade. It includes four members of Two Rivers Church. Dino Hayz, the director at the Center For Living Arts, recently directed and starred in the production of Godspell that showed at Two Rivers on Palm Sunday.

    The Center For Living Arts is a theater located just a few blocks from Two Rivers Church, at 2008 4th Avenue. They produce two kids’ musicals every school year, and one youth production a year. Over the summer, they host theater camps for kids and youth.

    dancingOn Saturday, April 18 at 3:30, Two Rivers will have a day featuring both kinds of music: Country AND Western. At 3:30, an experienced line-dancing instructor will be in Epworth Hall to give basic lessons. At 4:30, a square dance caller will take over. at 5:30, we’ll have a meal. These two different experienced instructors will be on hand to make sure everyone is having a great time. The afternoon promises to be a fun event for first-timers and savvy dancers alike. Spectators and “People Watchers” are welcome too. Don’t worry about the ten-gallon hat or boots, just bring a pair of shoes that will glide across the tile. And don’t forget to invite a friend.

    Ladies-Night-OutApril’s Sisterhood Get-Together will be Monday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern in downtown Rock Island. All women are invited to come, and all are encouraged to bring a friend as well. There will be a devotion, dinner, fellowship, and a fun time with friends. Contact the church office at 309-788-9384 for more details. Bennigan’s is at 226 17th Street in Rock Island. Each month the ladies’ group decides to meet at a different restaurant in or around Rock Island.
