  • Lemon Shake-Ups for Sale!

    Lemon Shake-Ups for Sale!

Volunteers can help raise funds and awareness for Camp Milan at the Rock Island Artists’ Market on Sunday, July 17 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. The Rock Island Artists’ Market is an open-air market at the Skeleton Key Antique shop across the street from Two Rivers Church.

Our booth will sell lemon shake-ups and popcorn to shoppers at the market. Lemon shake-ups are a quick and easy way to make a refreshing glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade. We also have a small popcorn popping machine to make fresh-popped popcorn. At the last market, we made a little over $200 for Camp Milan. In addition to the fundraiser, we raised awareness for the facility by posting our posters and handing out brochures and flyers to customers.

We are hoping to fill two shifts – from 11:30-2:30 and 2:30-5:30.

  • Pentecost discussion of LGBTQ inclusion

    Pentecost discussion of LGBTQ inclusion

Pentecost is June 5. This is the day that we celebrate the “birth of
the Church.” We commemorate the story in Acts when the Holy Spirit descends upon the disciples. They have an ecstatic religious experience. Peter declares to the gathering crowd, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Young people will see visions. Your elders will dream dreams.”

We will gather to discuss our vision and our dreams of what Two Rivers United Methodist Church can be. We are facing a crossroads in the United Methodist denomination. As the Church grapples with issues of sexuality, gender, and inclusion, decisions have been delayed for several years by the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions, technology difficulties have delayed decisions that were set to be made in 2020. It has been decided that the next General Conference will take place in 2024, where decisions about the nature of the future church will be made.

    Trunk or Treat

On October 31 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Two Rivers will host a Trunk or Treat celebration in the west parking lot. Kids and parents are invited to come in costume and “trick or treat” around the parking lot, where several cars will be parked to give out candy.

If you are interested in being a “trunk,” please contact the church office at 309-788-9384 or sign up in the west entrance on Sunday morning. Trunks do not need to be decorated, but everyone is encouraged to get into the fun of the day. Costumes are welcome – but not required.
